Holyoke Business Owner, Roger J. Reidy, Jr., announced as 2019 Grand Marshal of the 68th Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade

Holyoke, Massachusetts – October 23, 2018 – This evening, the St. Patrick’s Committee of Holyoke announced that its 68th Grand Marshal is long-time Parade Committee member and Holyoke business owner, Roger J. Reidy, Jr. The Grand Marshal is the highest local honor given to a person who has distinguished themselves as a loyal person to their career, their family, and to their Irish ancestry.

Roger has been a Parade Committee member for nearly 30 years having served as Parade President in 2003, an O’Connell Award recipient in 2006 and Chairman of the Board of Directors. Roger has also served as Head of Parade Coordination and Chief of Staff and has served on numerous subcommittees in his long tenure on the Committee.

Roger is President and owner of Reidy Heating and Cooling, Inc., a company that he started upon the retirement of his father in 1987. He is also active in numerous civic and professional organizations, including as a former Commissioner of the Holyoke Parks and Recreation Department, Chair of the Blessed Sacrament Parish Finance Board, serving as an Eucharistic Minister, and an avid supporter of Holyoke youth sports.

Married to Peggy (O’Hare) for thirty years, they are the parents to John and Ashley, and live in Holyoke. One of Roger’s proudest moments was when Ashley was crowned as the Grand Colleen for the 2008 Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade.
Russell J. McNiff, Sr., 2005 Grand Marshal and Chair of the Grand Marshal Selection Committee said “Roger’s interests in our organization began years before he became a member when he helped his father, Roger Sr., build classic floats during our early years. His being selected as our Grand Marshal is a most worthy acknowledgement for the many years of service that he has given to our City, the Parade and our Committee.”

Parade President, Devin Sheehan, said “Roger is an extremely dedicated member of the Parade Committee and the Holyoke Community.

He is always willing to help out where needed and as a business owner, strives to make Holyoke a better place and I look forward to having him lead the 68th St. Patrick’s Parade on March 17th, 2019.”

Roger will be honored at the Grand Marshal’s Reception on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Log Cabin in Holyoke. To purchase tickets, please contact Barbara Rogers (twinsmommy@aol.com) or Jane Chevalier (tjcheval@comcast.net).
