Joseph Weisse, Holyoke Business Owner, Named Citizenship Award Recipient for the 68th Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade

Holyoke, Massachusetts – September 11, 2018 – The St. Patrick’s Committee of Holyoke has announced that the 54th recipient of the Citizenship Award is local businessman Joseph Weisse, president of Laurel Pure located on Winter Street in Holyoke, MA. The Citizenship Award is presented to a person or organization that may be of non-Irish descent that has made substantial contributions to the Parade and/or the Parade Committee.

Weisse is a lifelong resident of Holyoke who is a graduate of the Holyoke public school system and then of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is the president of Laurel Pure, started by Weisse’s father Frank Weisse in 1965, which has been a longstanding business in the city of Holyoke. Celebrating over 28 years Weisse has served on the St. Patrick’s Committee of Holyoke’s Road Race Committee. For over 30 years his company, Laurel Pure, has provided the water for the runners of the annual St. Patrick’s Road Race in Holyoke. Laurel Pure also supports over 25 other various charity races and walks in the community including the Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day 5k in Holyoke.

Said Weisse upon receiving this Award, “I am very honored to receive this great award and I look forward to celebrating with my friends and family over Parade Weekend.” Devin Sheehan, 2019 St. Patrick’s Committee of Holyoke President, commented, “Joe Weisse has been been a great partner with the St. Patrick’s Committee of Holyoke, for many years his company Laurel Pure/Holyoke Distilled Water has made sure our runners on Road Race day have been well hydrated. He has always been willing to help the Committee and the City of Holyoke any way he can. I am honored that Joe Weisse is the 2019 Citizenship Award recipient.”
