On Sunday, March 17th at noon, the sights and sounds of the 68th Annual Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade will be broadcast live on The CW Springfield. The parade will also be streamed live on WWLP.com.
22News Anchors Rich Tettemer and Tamara Sacharczyk will serve as parade hosts. 22News Anchor Barry Kriger will provide interviews from the parade route with participants and bystanders throughout the coverage.
The city of nearly 40,000 grows nearly ten-fold parade weekend when viewers line the streets of Holyoke for the spectacular parade that showcases prize-winning floats, championship bands and notable celebrities each year. Musical units include international bands as well as the famed and elaborately costumed Philadelphia Mummers string bands, an annual favorite since 1967.
The 68-year old Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade is designated a “Local Legacy” by the Library of Congress and has been recognized by USA Today as one of the top destinations to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. In 2018, the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau honored the Parade Committee with its prestigious Spotlight Award. This award is bestowed upon a person, organization or establishment responsible for creating significant long-term positive impact upon the Western Massachusetts’ regional visitor economy. Studies have determined that the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade and its associated events generate over $20 million in local economic activity.
