The 69th Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade will be held on Sunday, March 22nd. It will again air live at noon on WWLP’s The CW Springfield and live streamed on WWLP.com, but two significant changes will also be made: the television location will move to the Beech Street side of Holyoke High School, and the parade will step-off earlier from the Kmart Plaza.
2020 Parade President Marc Joyce said, “The St. Patrick’s Committee of Holyoke and WWLP are excited to offer our television and online viewers a different viewing experience. The sight of the thousands of marchers, bands, floats and colleens as they come down the great hill of Beech Street will provide an even more spectacular shot for WWLP’s cameras.”
In order to arrive at Holyoke High School in time for the noon broadcast, the parade will step-off at approximately 11:10 a.m. from the Kmart Plaza. Parade spectators who usually watch the event along Northampton street will need to note the earlier start time. The parade’s website (https://holyokestpatricksparade.com) will provide all the details regarding the time change and parade route.
22News Anchors Rich Tettemer and Taylor Knight, along with Hayley Dunn from the Committee, will serve as parade hosts, and 22News Anchor Emeritus Barry Kriger will provide interviews from the parade route with participants and bystanders throughout the coverage.
In addition to the parade on March 22nd, the 45th St. Patrick’s Road Race will be held on Saturday, March 21st.
The CW Springfield may be viewed over-the-air on 22.2, on Comcast channels 16 and 820, Charter Cable channels 13 and 788, and on channel 23 of DirecTV.
