2026 Daniel J. Gallivan Award Recipient:
James Menard
James Menard is a lifelong resident of Western Massachusetts who exemplifies a deep commitment to family, community, and service. He reflects the values long celebrated within the Irish tradition through his unwavering loyalty to those he cares about, his strong sense of responsibility to his community, and his willingness to step forward whenever help is needed.
Raised in Holyoke, James spent most of his life in the city before moving to Chicopee at the age of 29. His dedication to the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Parade began at just 18 years old, when he joined the Parade Committee. For the past eighteen years, he has taken great pride in supporting and sustaining this cherished community tradition, serving as a key member of the Float Committee and helping bring the parade to life each year.
James has also devoted nine years of service to the Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force, volunteering at Westover Air Force Base. In his professional life, he works in the Security Department at Baystate Hospital, where he continues his commitment to public service and public safety. James was married to his wife, Katherine, on November 24, 2025. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, attending and watching hockey and football games, and spending time with his family.
