2025 Thomas F. Rohan Award Recipient:
Devin M. Sheehan

Devin M. Sheehan has been a devoted advocate for his community and a driving force behind the success of the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade and its associated events. Since joining the St. Patrick’s Committee of Holyoke in 2008, Devin has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a steadfast commitment to celebrating and preserving Holyoke’s rich Irish-American heritage.

In 2019, Devin served as President of the St. Patrick’s Committee, a testament to his dedication and organizational expertise. Over the years, he has chaired the Coronation Ball Committee and contributed his skills to the Marshal Committee, Program Book Committee, Marketing Committee, and Parade Coordination team, playing a vital role in the Parade’s continued success.

Devin’s dedication to Holyoke extends beyond the Parade to his passion for education and public service. First elected to the Holyoke School Committee in 2009, Devin served with distinction until 2021. Following his initial tenure, he joined the Greater Commonwealth Virtual School Board of Trustees, serving until November 2024. In June 2024, Devin was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Holyoke School Committee, where he continues to serve today.

Recognizing his expertise and commitment to local governance, Devin was appointed by Governor Charlie Baker to serve as a member of the Local Government Advisory Committee. In this role, he provided valuable input on policies affecting cities and towns across Massachusetts.

Beyond Holyoke, Devin has earned national recognition for his advocacy in education. In 2025, he will become President of the National School Boards Association (NSBA), highlighting his years of dedicated service and leadership in educational governance. Devin also served as President of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC) in 2019 and continues to contribute to advancing public education statewide and nationally. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA), further showcasing his commitment to student success.

In addition to his roles in education and community service, Devin serves as Chief of Staff for Massachusetts State Senator Jake Oliveira. In this capacity, he helps shape legislative priorities and advocate for the constituents of the Hampden, Hampshire, and Worcester District.

Devin is an active member of the Holyoke Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Holyoke Democratic Committee, and the Holyoke Lodge of Elks #902. His exceptional efforts have earned him numerous accolades, including being named Best Local Politician by The Republican/MassLive in 2013 and a 40 Under 40 honoree by the Irish Echo Magazine in 2017.

A proud graduate of Franklin Pierce University, Devin also holds a graduate certificate in Educational Policy and a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
