Introducing
SENSORY STREET
A More Comfortable Way to Enjoy Parade Day
The St. Patrick’s Committee of Holyoke is proud to introduce Sensory Street, a designated sensory-friendly viewing area for the 2026 Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade.
This special section of the route is designed for individuals and families who prefer a calmer parade experience with reduced noise and sensory stimulation. Sensory Street reflects our ongoing commitment to making parade day welcoming and enjoyable for all members of our community.
Sensory Street is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Magic for Maddie and was thoughtfully curated with the support of the Miracle League of Western Massachusetts, the Parade’s 2026 Citizenship Award recipient.
What is Sensory Street?
Sensory-friendly spaces help reduce overwhelming sights and sounds such as loud sirens, flashing lights, and sudden noises. By offering a lower-stimulus viewing option, Sensory Street allows more families, caregivers, and spectators to comfortably take part in this beloved Holyoke tradition.
Where to Find Sensory Street
Wind-down zone begins: Walnut Street (after Appleton Street)
Full Sensory Street zone: Elm Street through Maple Street
Traditional Parade experience returns: High Street
Clear signage will mark the area, and it will be highlighted on the official parade map so you can plan your visit in advance.
What to Expect in the Zone
Within Sensory Street:
No emergency or flashing lights
No sirens or amplified alarms
Bands will feature strings only (no percussion or brass)
Reduced loud or sudden vehicle noises
Additional parade monitors and security personnel will be present to help maintain the sensory-friendly environment.
Open to Everyone
Sensory Street is open to all spectators — no reservations or special passes are required. It simply offers a quieter viewing option while preserving the celebratory spirit of the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade.
Our Commitment
The Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade is a celebration for everyone. We are grateful to Magic for Maddie and the Miracle League of Western Massachusetts for helping bring Sensory Street to life.
We look forward to learning from this new feature and continuing to enhance the parade experience for all.
